STD Clinical Care
Early detection and specialized treatment for bacterial and viral infections. Protecting reproductive health through advanced diagnostics and patient confidentiality.
HIV / AIDS
HIV attacks the body’s CD4 (T cells), weakening the immune system. Without treatment, opportunistic infections or cancers take advantage of the weak system, signaling the progression to AIDS.
Chlamydia
Caused by C. trachomatis. Can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), tubal factor infertility, and fatal ectopic pregnancies.
Gonorrhea
A highly contagious infection of the mucous membranes. Often asymptomatic but can cause serious complications in the urethra or cervix.
Syphilis
"The Great Imitator"
Painless sores can be confused for harmless bumps. If left untreated, the second-stage non-itchy rash appears on palms and soles. Ocular Syphilis can lead to permanent blindness.
Genital Herpes
Characterized by a prodromal stage of burning or tingling before blisters form. Contagious even without visible sores.
HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
A DNA virus infecting keratinocytes. Types 6 and 11 cause genital warts, while others may cause abnormal cervical growths.
Bacterial Vaginosis
Characterized by "clue cells" and a fishy odor. Caused by an overgrowth of normal bacteria and fewer lactobacilli. Risk includes premature labor.
Trichomoniasis
Caused by T. vaginalis. Symptoms include frothy greenish-yellow discharge and painful urination. Men are often asymptomatic carriers.
Viral Hepatitis
Inflammatory liver disease (A through H). Transmitted sexually and through blood. All variants except Type A have chronic forms.
Safety
& Prevention
Unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex significantly increases risk. Responsibility and protection are the only barriers to infection.
Risk Reducers
- ✓ Consistent Condom Usage
- ✓ Mutually Monogamous Relationships
- ✓ Regular Clinical Screening
- ✓ Early Prodromal Detection
Clinical Warning
Some STDs cause permanent damage before symptoms ever appear. If you have multiple sexual partners or a history of previous infections, seek immediate testing.
